Bonus Blog: Team Detroit’s Wild “Ride” to SXSW

Whether you have been following “the ROCK STAR blog” since the launch in January of this year, or are a first time visitor, it’s important to know that we work hard to completely develop one new topic for the site each week. Today something happened that is making us veer off course for a special segment we’re calling BONUS BLOG. What would inspire us to do such a thing?

Answer: The Detroit Team of the Chevy South By Southwest Challenge. (To learn more about SXSW, click here.)

This group – made up of Henry Balanon, Brandon Chesnutt, Dave Murray and Audrey Walker (you go girl!) – is competing against seven other teams, equipped with a Chevy Traverse and only clues to help them get to the final destination. The fun begins when they complete “missions” (like having a picnic with animals and running a bingo game at a retirement community), while engaging their hometown’s social media community. Each completed mission, every tweet tweeted and all Facebook comments earn the team points in their quest for the ultimate prize … the biggest and best Tweetup ever thrown!

Even blogs dedicated to their journey boost their score. So we thought this was the perfect opportunity to cheer on TEAM DETROIT and share their story with all of our loyal ROCK STARS. After all, we’re all about a good party!

But, if that’s not enough reason for why we hope you’ll support them, too, here are five more reasons we think TEAM DETROIT should be crowned champs:
5. They are giving away cool prizes. Although they are the ones out on the open road, they feel the energy of those of us back in “the D” cheering them on. With the help of some pretty cool sponsors they are sharing the love!

4. They have the power to rally the troops and are connecting people that might not have ever met. Since starting to write this posting, 47 new tweets have been written on the topic. Join the conversation on Twitter (#DETChevySXSW) or on Facebook.

3. They represent all that’s good in and around the city of Detroit. We are the Motor City. We are Hockeytown. We are Motown. Simply put – we are good people!

2. They’ve got heart … lots and lots of heart! They have taken time away from their lives to take part in this wild “ride”, all in the spirit of representing something bigger than themselves. Plus they’ve given us lots to smile about along the way

1. This team isn’t made up of just four people, but an entire community that’s proud of our roots.

At LA Productions, we strongly believe in the concept of team. For us, a team is made up of Talented, Enthusiastic, Adaptable and Motivated individuals. Hmmm … come to think of it, we think that also describes this fabulous foursome perfectly because an adventure like this couldn’t have been successfully completed without such qualities. Win or lose – CONGRATULATIONS TEAM DETROIT.
